In 2005 the Center for Agriculture Security (CAS) was created to respond to emergencies and disasters that affected Iowa’s agriculture sector. The Center is the founding member of the Multi-state Partnership for Security in Agriculture. It works with livestock and commodity groups to prepare to manage disease and disasters in as efficient manner as possible. The Center hosts training sessions involving hypothetic disease and disaster scenarios with emergency management officials and federal and state agriculture specialists.
