Horse & Dog Breeding Bureau

Iowa Greyhound Breeders Program

The Greyhound Breeders Program within the bureau is responsible for inspection of all Iowa Greyhound kennels to ensure the health conditions and facilities of Iowa bred Greyhounds. Bureau inspectors also do inspections to verify the residency of Iowa whelped Greyhounds. Qualified animals are then registered with the Bureau.

An Iowa whelped dog must have been born in Iowa, and raised for the first six months of its life in Iowa by an owner who was an Iowa resident for at least two years prior to whelping. After its 6 months residency requirement has been met all puppies will be inspected by the bureau inspectors
