The mission of the Horse and Dog Breeding Bureau is to promote the breeding of higher quality racing horses and dogs in the state of Iowa in order to further stimulate Iowa Agriculture.

The bureau provides awards to breeders of successful racing greyhounds and racehorses at the close of each racing season

There are four separate programs within the Horse and Dog Bureau.
