DAIRY PRODUCTS FROM SWEDE POINT CREAMERY IN MADRID RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE HEALTH CONCERNS

DES MOINES – The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship today said that dairy products from Swede Point Creamery in Madrid are recalled due to concerns that some of the products from that facility did not meet regulatory requirements.

The recall covers 28 pounds of Goat Cheese Curd that was sold at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market on July 15 and 22, 2017.  The product was packaged in 7 ounce bags with a code date of 7-11.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Dairy Products Control Bureau discovered the possible contamination during routine testing. To date there have been no reported illnesses linked to the product.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. Customers can call Swede Point Creamery at 515-231-5900 to arrange for a refund and return of the product.

The Department’s Dairy Products Control Bureau conducts regular testing both on dairy farms and in dairy processing plants to ensure the safety and quality of dairy products in Iowa.  This includes regular testing of samples.
