RETAIL GASOLINE PRICES ON THE RISE

DES MOINES – Iowa retail gasoline prices rose $.05 this week, closing at $2.35 per gallon.  The national average price for retail gasoline rose $.06, ending the week at $2.40 per gallon.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.82 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $46.55.

Brent crude oil was down $.73 and is currently priced at $51.81.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $46.35 and Brent crude was at $47.94.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, Aug. 29th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.35 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is up $.05 from last week and $.08 higher than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $2.40, up $.06 from last week’s price. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady at last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.51.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.38 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.04 lower than the national average of $2.55.

Wholesale ethanol prices were down $.03 from last week’s price, currently at $1.45. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.76 for U87-E10, $2.00 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.79, ULSD#1 is at $1.95, and E-70 is priced at $1.73 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices are down $.13 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.88/ MMbtu.

Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
