NATURAL GAS PRICES DECLINE

DES MOINES – Natural gas prices dropped $.23 this week, closing at $2.72/MMbtu.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.02 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $50.09.

Brent crude oil fell $2.27 and is currently priced at $55.87.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $48.69 and Brent crude was at $48.81.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, October 3rd, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.45 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is down $.02 from last week and $.25 higher than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $2.53, down $.04 from last week’s price. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.02 from last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.69.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.36 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.04 lower than the national average of $2.73.

Wholesale ethanol prices were down $.04 from last week’s price, currently at $1.45. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.58 for U87-E10, $1.79 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.86, ULSD#1 is at $2.05, and E-70 is priced at $1.62 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices were up $.09 from last month’s prices for a statewide average of $1.31 per gallon.  Home heating oil rose $.06 from last month’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $2.28.  Natural Gas prices are down $.23 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.72/ MMbtu.
