Horticulture and Farmers Market Program

WIC FMNP

The WIC FMNP is a Congressionally-authorized program administered by the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship in cooperation with the department of Public Health and the local WIC Agencies. Participants in the WIC FMNP must be active participants in the Health Department’s Women, Infants and Children program. WIC FMNP benefits are distributed to eligible participants June 1 through August 31 by the local WIC Agencies. The WIC FMNP currently serves participants in 67 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Categories of participants served are based on the amount of funding received from the USDA for food benefits. The WIC FMNP is governed by the WIC/Seniors FMNP Administrative Rules, Chapter 50.
