NATURAL GAS PRICES TUMBLE

DES MOINES – The price of natural gas tumbled $.38 this week, closing at $2.07/MMbtu.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.79 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $45.89.

Brent crude oil rose $1.32, and is currently priced at $49.10.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $81.42 and Brent crude was at $85.57.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, October 27th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.37 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.07 lower than last week and down $.70 from one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $2.20, down $.04 from last week’s price. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were $.05 lower on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $2.47.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.51 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.02 per gallon lower than the national average of $2.49.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.04 higher this week, closing at $1.58.  The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $2.38 per gallon, down $.06 from last week’s price and $.66 lower than one year ago.  

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.46 for U87-E10, $1.64 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.54, ULSD#1 is at $1.90, and E-70 is priced at $1.63 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices held steady compared to last week’s price with a statewide average of $.99 per gallon.  Home heating oil fell $.04 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $2.00.  Natural Gas prices were $.38 lower at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.07 / MMbtu.
