CRUDE CONTINUES DOWNWARD TREND

DES MOINES – West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is currently priced at $30.31.  Brent crude oil fell $3.96 and is now trading at $30.33.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.71 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $30.31.

Brent crude oil fell $3.96, and is currently priced at $30.33.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $45.89 and Brent crude was at $45.13.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, January 12th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.87 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.05 lower than one week ago and $.09 lower than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $1.95, down $.05 from last week. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were $.05 lower on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $2.02.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.81 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.18 per gallon lower than the national average of $2.20.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.02 higher this week, closing at $1.33. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.05 for U87-E10, $1.18 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.02, ULSD#1 is at $1.25, and E-70 is priced at $1.30 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices were unchanged from last week with a statewide average of $1.01 per gallon.  Home heating oil fell $.04 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $1.52.  Natural Gas prices were $.06 higher at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.38 / MMbtu.
