IOWA RETAIL GASOLINE PRICES CONTINUE TO DECLINE

DES MOINES – Regular unleaded gasoline prices in Iowa continue to decline, closing the week out at $1.62, a drop of $.10 per gallon.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.41 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $27.69.

Brent crude oil fell $3.75, and is currently priced at $31.13.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $50.02 and Brent crude was at $55.79.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, February 9th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.62 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.10 lower than one week ago and $.49 lower than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $1.72, down $.06 from last week. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were a penny lower on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $1.89.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.62 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.12 per gallon lower than the national average of $2.01.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.02 lower this week, closing at $1.40. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $.68 for U87-E10, $.75 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.02, ULSD#1 is at $1.20, and E-70 is priced at $1.24 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices were unchanged from last week with a statewide average of $1.01 per gallon.  Home heating oil fell a penny from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $1.45.  Natural Gas prices were $.14 higher at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.17 / MMbtu.
