REFINED FUELS REVERSE DOWNWARD TREND

DES MOINES – Retail Gasoline and Diesel prices make modest reversal this week, gaining $.07 and $.03 respectively.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.60 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $32.24.

Brent crude oil rose $.15, and is currently priced at $34.45.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $49.28 and Brent crude was at $60.33.

Motor Fuels
As of Wednesday February 24th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.67 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.07 higher than one week ago and $.56 lower than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $1.71, unchanged from last week. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were three cents higher on the Wednesday report with a statewide average of $1.91.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.71 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.07 per gallon lower than the national average of $1.98.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.06 higher this week, closing at $1.44. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.07 for U87-E10, $1.17 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.10, ULSD#1 is at $1.27, and E-70 is priced at $1.36 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices were unchanged from last week with a statewide average of $1.01 per gallon.  Home heating oil was also unchanged from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $1.48.  Natural Gas prices were $.09 lower at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $1.83 / MMbtu.
