Lambert & Ewers Smoked Meats in Boone selling meat products without a license
Consumers encouraged to not consume products

Following a consumer complaint, Compliance Officers from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship's Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau conducted an investigation of Lambert & Ewers Smoked Meats, 1641 6th Street, Boone, Iowa. Investigation determined that the facility was operating without a license.

On searching the facility, the investigators found insanitary conditions and product being stored at unsafe temperatures.

If you have purchased any meat or poultry products from this facility or bearing this label, we recommend those products not be consumed.  We have received no reports of illnesses at this time.

Review of business records show product was sold at a pickup location in Des Moines at 403 Maple street, for home delivery, and via internet sales though the website http://www.4hams.com/

The company is working with the Department to recall all products. Customers who have purchased meat products from the company can call 1-800-572-7902 for more information regarding the recall.

Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
