NAIG TO VISIT CHEROKEE AND BUENA VISTA COUNTIES MARCH 29 AND 30

 

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced that he will be making stops in Cherokee and Buena Vista Counties on March 29 and 30.

On Thursday, Naig will participate in an agriculture roundtable at the Cherokee Area Economic Development Office, tour Foundation Analytical Laboratory in Cherokee and tour Little Sioux Corn Processors in Marcus.  On Friday, Naig will participate in a Headwaters of the North Raccoon River Watershed planning meeting focused on expanding the usage of edge-of-field practices such as wetlands, bioreactors and saturated buffers that are focused on improving the water quality.  Naig will also make an announcement with the Iowa Pork Producers Association at the event.

Buena Vista County – 10:00 a.m., participate in in a Headwaters of the North Raccoon River Watershed planning meeting and make an announcement with the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Ag Partners, 30 Main St., Albert City

Naig was appointed by Governor Kim Reynolds to succeed Bill Northey as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture on Monday, March 5, 2018. Prior to that, he had served as Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture for Northey since September 2013.

As Secretary, he is committed to leading efforts to protect consumers, expanding economic opportunities for Iowans and advocating in Iowa and around the globe on behalf of the hard-working men and women who keep us fed and fueled.

Mike Naig grew up on a family farm in the northwest corner of the state near Cylinder, Iowa and he continues to be involved in the operation today.
