INCREASE IN RETAIL GASOLINE PRICES.

DES MOINES – The price of retail gasoline in Iowa rose $.05 this week, closing at $2.55 per gallon.  National retail gasoline prices rose $.07, ending the week at $2.64 per gallon.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.60 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $64.59.

Brent crude oil rose $.32 and is currently priced at $69.74.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $48.36 and Brent crude was at $50.72.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, March 27th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.55 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is up $.05 from last week and $.28 higher than one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $2.64, up $.07 from last week’s price. 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose a penny from last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.92.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.44 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel price is $.03 less than the national average of $2.95.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.01 lower than last week’s price, currently at $1.46. 

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.87 for U87-E10, $2.08 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $2.12, ULSD#1 is at $2.27, and E-70 is priced at $1.62 per gallon.

Heating Fuels
Propane prices dropped $.03 for a statewide average of $1.37 per gallon.  Home heating oil prices rose $.09 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $2.46.  Natural Gas prices fell $.06 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.60/ MMbtu.

Today is the final weekly report for the 2017-2018 heating season.   Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
